Grímstunga, a big sheep farm, church and former parsonage today. West of it is a rugged gorge, through which flows the river Álka. The beginning of the old route via Grímstunguheiði (moor) to Borgarfjörður, now a jeep track south to the moors and Stórisandur. The home, in the 10th century of Óttar, father of the poet Hallfreður Vandræðaskáld. 1845 Icelandic census states that Gisli was born in Underfellssókn which is across the river from where the obituary stated he was born.
