Kom með lög til Íslands 927. Hafði forgöngu um stofnun íslenska þjoðveldisins. Úlfljótslög was the first law of Icelanders and was passed in Alþingi 930 (927—930). They were called Úlfljótslög after the first lawyer, Úlfljót . The Norwegian Gulaþing Act was a model for the Úlfljót Act.
In around 927-930 AD Úlfljótr was sent to Norway by a group of chieftains to study law and culture and bring back to Iceland sufficient understanding to help establish Iceland's legal framework and form of government where he stayed for around three years
Úlfljótr is commemorated with the first law enacted at the Alðing
Hann var þar í þrjá vetur og samdi í samráði við móðurbróður sinn, Þorleif hinn spaka Hörða-Kárason, sem talinn var manna vitrastur og mestur lögspekingur í Noregi, lög sem svipaði mjög til Gulaþingslaganna norsku. Annars eru heimildir um þetta mjög óljósar en Sigurður Nordal taldi að Úlfljótur hefði komið heim með lögin um árið 921.
